Li'la had been in her art shop, hanging up a new load of her art and a few from other local artists. All the while, waiting impatiently for her boyfriend to get there. They were supposed to hang out together there, since he'd said he'd drop by. They hadnt been dating for very long, but Li'la couldnt help but feel that Liam was the guy she'd always wanted to end up with. He was sweet, funny, cute, considerate. And his family seemed to like her. All but one... She'd met Illusion the other day for the first time when she'd also managed to threaten Nicholas. Of course, with that, Li'la had told her that Nick was part of her pack. Not that she'd had a pack before Liam and his family.
Looking down at the painting she was about to hang, she frowned, adjusting the placing she'd made for it and then hanging it on the wall in the "blue room". Each of the rooms had a different, bright - almost fluorescent - color painted onto the walls to show all the different types of art. Photography room, self portraits, portraits of other people. Landscapes, groups, cities. That kind of thing. She'd opened this gallery shortly after coming to Mystic Falls, in the hopes that she'd be able to make a good go at her art business. After all, she'd been painting for years. Sketching and drawing for even longer. And now that she didnt have her old pack breathing down her neck and pushing their noses into things they didnt belong in, she could do it freely.
Walking out to the front room, the "green room", where the showcase pieces and her desk were held, she sat down on the large leather and mesh office chair behind her cherrywood desk and looked through some of the paperwork ontop of it. Bills, financial balances. She hated that kind of thing. But it was necessary, of course. Sighing, she settled in. Might as well kill some time before Liam got there.

Liam looked at the clock for the fifth time in just as many minutes. Generally, he loved his job as an English teacher, lately though it had been a pain. Probably because it cut into precious time he could be spending with his girlfriend, Li’la Nightshade. He couldn’t help a small smile as he went back to the papers on his desk that needed to be marked. It was the last period of the day, and the class was writing a test on the works of William Shakespeare, so had time to get a head start on these papers.
He really didn’t want to spend the weekend correcting them and filing away marks if he didn’t have to. After all, he had been hoping to spend the vast majority of the weekend with Li’la, preferably alone...Not like that was bound to happen much, as part of a pack of wolves, Liam found there was very rarely alone time for anyone. He loved his pack and family, they were the most important thing to him, but there were no secrets, and there was no privacy when it came to them.
Originally when they had first moved to the east coast, it was only suppose to be Liam and Silver at the house. Two bedrooms would have been fine, and that’s what he should have gone with, but Liam knew what would happen. First it was James who started coming over on a regular basis (he usually lived with Chase and Jarrett two houses over), then Chase would follow him, and Tempest would follow her brother and it just went from there. Illusion and Jarrett would follow because they were the Alpha and the Beta, and had to keep an eye out for everyone else.
Long story short? On any given night, Liam’s house could have anywhere from two to six (now seven with Li’la coming over from time to time) crowed in. It was natural though, they were a pack and they had to stick together, even if it got loud and crowded. It annoyed him sometimes, but he wouldn’t change it for the world. Not unless they were adding to it, a long time ago their pack had been huge and now? It was tiny, and it was little disheartening...
The afternoon bell rang, jarring Liam out of his reverie and back into teaching mood, “Alright, single file put the tests upside down on my desk and then you can leave. Have a good weekend guys and girls, and stay safe. I’ll see you on Monday,” he tells them in a cheery voice, with a smile. As the teenagers brought up their papers, he got a number of goodbyes, and have a good weekend. He loved his class this year, especially the advanced English, he had a bunch of good kids, with open minds and a lot of creativity. Which made his job that much easier.
After the last student had left, Liam straightened up the pile of test papers, and slipped them into his bag along with his laptop. It would have been normal for him to spend the next hour sitting behind his desk, marking and getting ready for next week, but he actually had plans for this afternoon. Li’la should be waiting for him at her art shop, and he was already running a little late, and he hated it. Although most people understood that Liam Ross and the idea of being on time were at odds, he hated the idea of making Li’la late.
Ah, Li’la. He smiled as he thought about her, where did he even stop? She was beautiful with her lightly tanned skin, long dark hair and gorgeous eyes, there was no doubt about it, but there was something else about her. The old saying was, beauty is only skin deep. This was so not the case with Li’la, and although Liam was sure he’d never be able to pinpoint the exact reason, one this was for sure. She was the one he wanted to be with. He didn’t want anyone else in his life, yeah sure maybe this would change if they broke up or something, but he wasn’t about to let that happen.
As he started up his old ford truck, Nick’s words from a couple nights ago came back to him, Don’t fuck it up, man. He smiled to himself as he pulled out of his parking spot, and then out of the school parking lot towards Li’la’s store. Seemed like Liam had been hearing that a lot lately, and like he pointed out to people, that was so not the plan.
If he had his way, this was going to be the last relationship he was in. Ever. He just couldn’t picture himself with another girl. All those biggies in life that you were suppose to daydream about? The only other person he could see sharing those moments was the art loving, wine collector of a werewolf. Well, her and his family, and her roommate Nick. Since they sort of came with the territory...Err pack..Whatever.
He parked the truck out-front of the shop and turned off the engine before looking at his watch. Ah crap, he was late...As usual...Great. He gets out of the truck, making sure the doors are locked behind him before going into the store. Liam paused as he saw Li’la, god she was beautiful. He really wasn’t a hundred percent sure how they had managed to get together, or how they made it work but thankfully they managed to. “Hey you,” he says with a smile as he walks over to her desk and kisses her cheek, “Sorry I’m late.” he apologizes quickly.
