Charlie had the morning off on this particular morning, but it was not for a very pleasant reason. Well, alright, it wasn’t that bad, but she’d just much rather be doing other things. Her boss, Jay, had sent her off on a little morning errand of getting everyone coffee. She partially understood, since to the boss, she was just an everyday computer repair shop employee and he didn’t know just what she was capable of doing. But on the other hand, just being assigned this little job made her feel a little insulted. Charlie knew that she had plenty of actual work waiting for her back at her desk.
Ah, well. She knew that since she was really new to the company, she would have to start at the bottom, just like anything else. Sighing, she strapped her small, black purse across her chest and grabbed her keys. They couldn’t have someone run this errand that actually had a car. No, they chose the girl that used a moped as a method of transportation. Of course. Rolling her eyes, she pulled her large headphone onto her head and turned on some Wizard Rock as she headed to the elevator.
After a small dance session in the elevator, she headed to where her moped was in the parking lot. She removed her headphones and stuck them in her bag so she could properly put on her helmet. New Orleans was a fairly large city, so the commute was pretty hectic. It was early in the morning still, so people were still stuck in traffic on their way to work. In all honesty, she probably could have sped between the cars and gotten to her destination much faster, but she was a little too paranoid about getting arrested…because doing that was kind of against the law. She had enough problems with authority, so it would probably just be disaster if she got arrested.
Finally, Charlie arrived at her destination: the café. It would have been so much easier to just go to the Starbucks that was just down the street from work, but Jay had some kind of problem with the company. He always had to make things difficult. Heaving another sigh, she removed her helmet and rested it on the seat before going into the building. Thankfully, it wasn’t quite as busy as it may have been if she had gone to Starbucks, but still.
Ugh, waiting.
