Sage sat in the back of the old, beat up pickup truck. It wasn't a working vehicle, but it was a pretty good place to sit for a look out. Hear a Croat, pop up, take the head shot, then duck back down out of harm's way to wait for the next one to show up. Of course, once one was killed, the smell of dead usually drew the others out, and it became a sort of free-for-all for her and the other hunters that were with her which were usually her father, her brothers Ansem and Dustin - the twins - and her sister Valerie. They seemed so in tune with each other that it was no wonder they were more often than not paired up when it was their turn for watch. It was as if they all knew what the other was going to do.
So, here they were - the Winchester clan - watching for signs of Croat activity, all of them with guns poised and ready for shooting. Raising her gaze, she saw the twins posted on the roofs of opposing buildings that sat across the street from each other, creating a sort of no man's land between them. The both of them were damn good shots. Panning her gaze down and a little further down the street, her eyes peered through the broken glass windows of the guns and ammo shop where her father and her sister had taken up post. Valerie was always paired with dad because she was the youngest of the Winchester children.
Sage let her gaze slowly pan around the area, keeping an eye and an ear out for any sign of a Croat coming their way. This was rather unnerving though, Sage gripping her gun even tighter. It was quiet........way too quiet. They had been posted on watch for an hour now, and nothing had shown up. Sage kept getting this feeling in the pit of her stomach that something was going to happen....something big. She just didn't know what, and not knowing was as scary as knowing.

Castiel was finally out of purgatory, that silent and dreadful place. The only good thing that happened was that Cas had regained his true sanity once again and Dean Winchester was safe as well. Though there were bigger issues to face. The Leviathans were threatening to open the gates of hell by the blood of a few special humans and Castiel knew just who they were while the Leviathans were still doing their research. Castiel had no time to mingle with Sam and Dean, he knew and could observe was that they were safe...for now. Castiel needed to get extra help as the battle was only just beginning. This hunter has been watched by Castiel for a while and this hunter was in the future times when the Croatoans ruled the lands. This hunters name was Sage Winchester, a descendent of Dean Winchester, who was an exceptional hunter and had had the favor of the angels since she was born. Sage did not know that she was a vessel of the angels, but now was the time to let her know that information and hopefully take her back to current times.
Castiel then, in the blink of an eye, was in the future years. Invisible to all eyes, but Sage’s, he appeared right in front of her. A gun was aimed right where he was, but it wasn’t because of the man himself, she was on guard. Castiel had known Sage and everything about her since she was young, he was her guardian angel, among the others that he had to keep an eye out for in his charge. Castiel was intangible for the time being, so that if she did take a shot, it would go right through him. He would reveal himself to her family in time, but first he needed to get through to her without her denying him. Castiel appeared straight from out of no where, right in Sage’s view. The man remained quiet, standing there in his same outfit that was the tan trench coat with a suit like clothing underneath, keeping silent as his eyes watched her, and he knew that she could see him as well.
Castiel’s blue angelic eyes wandered around, seeing how the hunters were all around him. Suddenly, Castiel heard the groans and growls of a Croatoan behind him. Turning tangible for all to see, he placed his hand on the beast’s head before white beams of light came from it’s eyes, mouth and nostrils before it fell to the ground, lifeless. Suddenly, he realized that he had felt a few hits to his human vessel. He didn’t doubt that he was just shot by the hunters’ weapons. The hits had no effects on him or his body. Castiel then slowly turned around to face all of the hunters, and spoke loud as he looked around to make eye contact with everyone of them. ”I am an Angel of the Lord, my name is Castiel and I would like if you wouldn’t shoot me.." His voice sounded like a groan and he was almost annoyed at the bullets that entered his flesh "...Sage Winchester, I am your guardian angel...but among other things, we have matters to discuss and that’s why I’m here..” His voice lowered when he said her name and his gaze focused on her.
Surely doubt and fear would arise from the hunters, not many angels made an appearance to this certain group, but they were watched over by many angels. Castiel was very upfront with his words, but he was one of those angels that really had no social skills in that area. So getting straight to the point should have made things clear for them, since there was no room to waste time. Castiel always was bold and brash and never understood the modern sarcasm. In a way, he always had some type of interesting entrance.

Sage was on her upmost guard, especially with how quiet it was. It was an uncomfortable, disconcerting quiet, the kind that really got to a person, especially one that was so used to something happening at all times. One that was so used to protecting others. It was the silence that was always so unnerving....so unsettling. She looked up at her brothers again who were still in their same places, and further down her father and her sister. They were all exactly where they'd been when she'd looked at them fifteen minutes ago.
Sage nearly pulled the trigger when her view was suddenly blocked by a body. Her eyes quickly drew upwards, taking in the business suit and tan trench coat clad figure. The way he stood there and watched her without saying a word....it was as unnerving as the silence that surrounded the two of them at the moment. There was one thing that did catch and hold her gaze - those intense blue eyes. She couldn't remember ever seeing eyes that blue....that clear of a blue. As he stood there and gazed at her, she simply sat there and gazed right back at him, not saying anything just as he was. The eye contact was only broken as he looked around to see where the rest of her family was. What exactly were this man's intentions; of course, at this point, she wasn't sure he was just any ordinary man. First off, he'd just appeared out of thin air to stand before her. And now he was......
Sage just barely caught the groans and growls of the Croat and had just raised her gun to fire, but she found the trench coat man to be in her way, and she couldn't just fire with him in the way. All were considered innocents until proven otherwise. However, as Sage shielded her eyes from the brightness of the white beams of light, she heard gunshots being fired and her name being called. Then everything went quiet just before the man spoke loud enough for her siblings and her father to hear him. Castiel? Why was that name an inkling familiar to her? Had she heard it before? Her gaze rose to him again as he spoke her name, her eyes meeting his and holding there as she listened to him.
Sage glanced over his shoulder as she heard quickened footsteps approaching from behind him, and the four hunters stopped, arcing around him with their guns poised to fire, but none of them pulled the trigger. Sage hopped out of the back of the old, run-down pickup and moved to stand in front of her family, between them and Castiel. She motioned with her hands for them to lower their weapons, throwing looks over her shoulders to them that said let's hear him out. There were looks of doubt, fear, and uncertainty in all their eyes as they slowly lowered their weapons, none of them clicking on the safeties. They remained ready to fire at all times. Sage then turned her gaze directly back to Castiel. "Well Castiel, Angel of the Lord, you have our attention now. So, let's discuss these matters that had you appearing from out of nowhere," she stated, her voice that of a hunter that was sure angel existed but still didn't believe that one was standing before her even after what she'd witnessed.

As Castiel first appeared in front of the female hunter, the two had gazed at one another in utter silence, but the female look a little bewildered by seeing him there. Though, it was her first encounter with an angel, let alone her own guardian angel. Just as he kept quiet, she did as well and Castiel lightly cocked his head to the side before the incident of the Croatoan appearing and Cas making himself visible to the rest of the hunters in the area. Their eyes all peered at him, and after he killed the beast that approached him from behind, he found all of the hunters in the area right in front of him with their guns pointed straight for his heart. Little did they know that bullets wouldn’t even get close to harming him even in the slightest manner. All he could do was lightly smirk as his eyes locked at the guns surrounding him in a circle. Keeping quiet, his eyes raised to Sage, the only one who didn’t have him at gun point. Sage’s eyes watched him with curiosity, which was to be expected as Castiel watched her and her every move as she hopped out of the truck and walked towards them.
Sage Winchester looked to be the ring leader, since their eyes watched her, waiting for the cue to shoot him at her word. So, she was a respectable woman. Though, how she was a Winchester, it made much sense. The Winchesters were always respected hunters and now, she was also older, more knowledgable and very talented hunter since her mother had died. The blonde female had put herself between the guns and Castiel and with a simple movement of her hand, they all put their weapons and backed down. He didn’t have time to fight with these humans, especially when he needed to be considered an ally of theirs. With the looks in their eyes, their still remained fear, almost anger. These people had been so used to killing everything and everyone that wasn’t apart of their village that it must have been a real disappointment to not be able to attack this stranger. She then spoke to him, her voice almost angelic. It was soft, and different from that of a stern hunter. How she had grown into quite the woman.
When she called him by name, almost mocking his title, she had alerted him that he had their attention now. When she mentioned how he had appeared from no where, his jaw lightly loosened, these humans and their curious misunderstandings. ”You’re needed in past times. It is many years before the virus has spread or even started. But their are bigger problems at hand, such as creatures called Leviathans that wish to release Satan from his cage as well as all of the demons. In other words, domination of evil. Castiel was straight forward about it and he didn’t care to pull her aside, since she asked for his answer with everyone around, knowing she’d have to explain it to them eventually anyway.

Even though Sage considered herself equal with the rest of her family as far as hunting skills and such went, she did carry the slight advantage of being able to keep the family calm and collected. Both the twins had a hair-light temper, and her father was just really over protective, so to see the fear and uncertainty in their eyes, she knew that they didn't completely trust this guy; but then again, neither did she.
Yes, he had shown that he was what he claimed to be. The whold appearing out of nowhere and the way he took care of that Croat - it was all proof that he was indeed an angel. Or, was he? Didn't some demons have some sort of powers like that? She didn't remember any of them having that sort of power, but then again, there was no telling. Powers developed and changed and who was to say that those of the demons hadn't as well.
Sage shook away those thoughts for the time being, listening as Castiel spoke. His straight forward manner with his words was a little surprising, but that how Sage liked someone to be. Why sugar coat it? In this day and time, nothing was sugar coated. If you couldn't take coming right out and telling someone something, then it was just best to not say it at all or let someone that could say it.
"So, the threat of complete and utter domination of all the evils of Hell, including Lucifer himself....." she began, giving a nod to let him know that she'd gotten and completely understood that part. But, there was just one thing that she didn't get. "So, why do you need me? Do they not have hunters in your time? Surely you've got a Winchester or two back then," she stated in a matter-of-fact tone.

Out of all of the hunters surrounding him, Sage seemed to be the most calm and least tense out of all of them. As Castiel explained matters to her with everyone else’s eyes on him like he was a fresh piece of meat. It was expected that these hunters would be extremely wary of his presence, not just because he was a newcomer, but he was also proclaiming to be an angel while asking to take one of their main hunters with him to the past times. No wonder most angels wished to remain in heaven and not deal with the humans, they were too curious and complicated to deal with and thought too simply. Castiel saw something in the humans though, mainly Dean.
Sage understood where he was going as he told her about the situation back in modern times and she nodded and her sentence trailed off, a sign that she knew exactly what was happening and what was the threat for them. Then there was a question that he didn’t expect, one that questioned why did he need her? There had to be hunters in that time, let alone a Winchester or two. Castiel nodded to her and took a step towards her, ”Yes, we have Sam and Dean Winchester. John and Mary Winchester had perished, as well as a few other hunters within the bloodline. Over the years we have lost very skilled hunters...And we could use some reinforcements right now.
The man in the trench coat paused and looked at the eyes around him once again, staying silent but the atmosphere was quite uncomfortable and not needed. ”Sage, you have the favor of the angels. Have you ever found yourself getting out of a situation alive even though it seemed close to impossible? You’ve had angels watching over you. I have been one of your main angel...But as of lately, I haven’t been doing a good job of it.” His words were also a reference of him attempting to take the place of God and letting the Leviathans out on earth. ”You will be granted immorality by the angels if you should come back with me to the past. You are a very important figure in this earth’s history..So there should be nothing to fear because you can return here if you’d like when you’re done.” Castiel laid it out all on the table for her, hoping she’d understand it all.
