ZEPHON
So afraid of dreaming,
The story is repeating, screaming,
Monsters, I'm bleeding,
I'm losing light in myself,
Come back into me, 'cause only you can save me.

The Usual Suspects And What Should Never Be
Sometimes I get a feeling, deep in my soul. Sometimes I get a feeling, deep in my bones.
Hair: Dark and wild, with a wavy, almost springy quality to it. Though it's clean, it's likely never seen such a thing as a brush or a comb, and even when it's wet it sticks up in places.
Height & Weight: 5'10" & 155 lbs
Body Type: Average
Distinguishing Features: Faint scars around the center of his chest and the base of his wings, which are signs from when he Fell. They're very, very slowly fading, though, as time goes on. Other than that his body usually just heals things, so there's no particular scars or birthmarks, and tattoos don't work on him, he just coughs up the ink later

[/li][li] His past, to kuro

Best Memory: Zephon's best memory is a very simple one, from when Kuro was very young, about seven years old. After she'd had a bad experience with some other kids and gotten knocked down, he broke one of his rules -- albeit in a very small way -- and gathered a few flowers, plucked the thorns from them, and laid them beside her without being noticed. When she saw them she was confused, but took them nonetheless. It made her feel better. That was the first real moment he felt like he'd done something good.
Worst Memory: Zephon's darkest memories are, of course, of his time in Hell. But the worst by far was what initiated him -- killing his partner, Ithuriel. It wasn't a quick death, or a merciful one. He had to physically rip out and destroy Ithuriel's Grace, rendering him human and without memory, and then sent him to be tortured for eternity in Hell. When he felt himself face doubts, Zephon would go to Ithuriel and be his torturer. And every time Ithuriel had this look of faint recognition and trust, like he remembered Zephon. Logically, it was impossible, but the memory still chills him.
Habits/Quirks/Skills:
-keeps and names many, many different birds
-does dog-ears instead of bookmarks
-whistles perfectly
-frequently seeks out rooftops/treetops/other high places
-good at string games
-he tends not to enter buildings from the front door when he can help it
-his handwriting is illegible, like a doctor's
Overall Personality/Appearance: Zephon is a strange one, even for the generally bizarre and dysfunctional family of the angels. He's one who clearly tries hard to be compassionate with others and treat everyone with a gentle touch, but there's just something about the way he thinks and acts that is a little "off"--not quite bizarre or outlandish, but just peculiar enough that you can tell his mind isn't quite in the same place as everyone else.
However, he's not all harmless. There's at least some tiny part of him that's still dark and possessive, the part that jumps too quickly to defend those he cares for and that, in extreme cases, can end up twisted and vengeful. But those haven't come out for a very, very long time now, and he's made it his life's work to make up for that part of his past.

Overall History:
In The Beginning & The Fall
Zephon was the original Guardian of Eden after the expulsion of Adam and Eve, entrusted with ownership of the flaming sword and the duty of guarding the Gates. As a result of this, as well as Yahweh's frequent comings and goings as he disguised and repurposed the physical location of the Garden, Zephon was one of the few angels to have more prolonged informal exposure to their Creator. This, unfortunately, did more harm than good. Seeing Yahweh less formally caused him to have less of a reverent fear of him than most of the other angels; he, like Lucifer soon would, was able to see his Father as a fallible and ordinary being, just like any other.
This became Zephon's undoing after he--along with another Cherub named Ithuriel--was sent by Gabriel to find Lucifer's hiding place after the First Fall. They succeeded in this, but with tragic consequences; Lucifer was able to manipulate Zephon into cutting down Ithuriel and joining in with the ranks of the Fallen, joining him into their cause. Zephon spent many hundreds of years in Hell with the rest of the Fallen, torturing the souls of the damned and working to ruin the efforts of Heaven.
This finally came to an end near the time of Christ, when Gabriel, having long since departed Heaven himself, accidentally stumbled upon Zephon with a small group of other Fallen angels on Earth. Startled by the appearance of their elder (and considerably stronger) brother, they all fled straight back down to Hell; but Gabriel remembered being the one to send Zephon, and feeling responsible for his younger brother's Fall, went down into Hell and basically dragged him out of it kicking and screaming.
Over time, Gabriel was able to undo the long-set kinks and manipulations of thought placed in Zephon's mind. While he never fully recovered from his years spent in Hell, he began a long process of reformation with the help of Gabriel, and was eventually (reluctantly) allowed back into the ranks of Heaven, after a heavy dose of groveling and mild trickery on the part of Gabriel.
For a much longer time after that he remained in Heaven, doing their dirty work and otherwise trying to make good for all his wrongdoings.
Guardianship
One day, Zephon was enlisted as a guardian angel. He was to watch over a newborn named Kuro, a first generation Japanese-American born in Indiana. Zephon didn't have much say in the matter, and so he began his new job as guardian. He remained unseen to the child as she grew. But he became rather fond of her as the days went by. He enjoyed her innocence and curiosity. Zephon tried to stay out of Kuro's life, but found himself sometimes breaking his own rules in order to comfort her. Once, after Kuro was bulled, he laid flowers beside her. The little girl had been confused, but the smile on her face was worth it. Zephon felt like he had done something good, for once.
As Kuro grew, Zephon became more hopelessly attached to her. Kuro became his one and only life. He even dared to appear to her in a bar on her 21st birthday in Vegas. The two enjoyed each other's company...perhaps a little too much. Zephon became drunk for the first time that night. When he woke up, he was married to his charge and sleeping in the same bed with her. Zephon had a moment of panic and vanished, leaving a confused Kuro when she woke up.
Zephon did not appear again to Kuro. Instead, he forced himself to stick to the rules and remain an indirect influence. He was there the night Kuro made a deal with a crossroads demon. The demon had tricked her. Zephon was outraged by the trickery, and more than a little miffed at himself for not stepping in. He knew his charge now had only 6 more years before the hellhounds came for her.
Zephon was going to protect her at all costs.
When the time came, Zephon appeared again to Kuro. He didn't have much time to explain with the hellhounds coming, and so he pushed Kuro to run while he fended them off. In the end, the hellhounds caught Kuro and tore her soul from her body. Zephon failed. He took Kuro's body and healed it up. Then he stood guard and waited. He would wait for Kuro for an eternity.
Presently
When Kuro returned from Hell, Zephon made sure that her corrupted soul returned to the rightful body. He knew Kuro wouldn't remember her human life, and that is what made her into what demons become, apathetic monsters. So, once Kuro woke, Zephon took it upon himself to place his hands on her temples and insert memories of her human life. He hoped that this would make Kuro remember her humanity. Zephon didn't want her to run off and do Hell's bidding. He wanted her to stay with him.
Currently, Kuro is a fresh-made demon with memories of her human life and an angel who has sworn to guard her until the end. Zephon defends his decision of implanting her memories by stating he is her guardian and it is his duty to keep her safe. Reminding her of her former humanity was a tactic to make her less aggressive. It was a way to keep her alive longer.
Zephon knows he has a lot of explaining to do. The question is, will Kuro listen?

Roleplay Sample:
It may be thought that an Asylum is an odd place to set up camp, but not for this particular angel. For him, it was very logical and convenient. For one, the rooftop was very high and he could see much farther than if he'd taken a rest the roof of one of the pastel-colored houses. The human living in the house might not have preferred Zephon on his or her roof, either. There was that. For two, the birds preferred the quiet abandon of the asylum as opposed to the occupied homes of the human species. The birds were skittish of people; they were shy creatures. They had taken to this place, and that had drawn him to it. Now, he sat calmly on the roof with a raven on his shoulder. He'd decided to name her Chalchiuitl. The raven had responded the most to it; she liked it.
There were other birds around, most of them ravens. Earlier he'd met a flock of loons. They had been quite polite and had greeted him warmly to their little body of water. Humiliana, Xylophia, and Jagmeet had been amusing. They'd entertained him until a topic of missing girls had come up. Zephon had been informed about this town and how virgin females had been vanishing. It piqued Zephon's interest, and so he had come to this place and now sat atop the very place he was sure held the answer to this mystery. It seemed he was not the only one who thought so. The ravens gave word of strange happenings that ruffled their feathers. He reached up and scratched Chalchiuitl gently under her beak. Poor girl. Her rest had been interrupted horribly these past few days.
The ravens began to chatter among themselves. Zephon perked up and gazed down from the roof to see what the fuss was about. A human was here; a female human. She was remaining in hiding as she made her way to the Asylum. The disappearances must have interested her as well. Zephon drew back from the edge of the roof and looked over at Chalchiuitl.
"Let's have a look, shall we?" He cooed and stroked the top of her head.
Chalchiuitl returned his gaze before cawing and taking off from his shoulder. She flew down toward the human female, but perched some distance away. Her dark eyes remained solely on Eve.

She's so hardcore. And you wouldn't want to make
Dean Winchester Romeo mad by stealing it now would you?
He'd have to come after you with a stick. It wouldn't be pretty,
now go play nice and don't steal her stuff.
