He shrugs and holds his thumb and index about an inch apart, “Just a little bit,” he says with a chuckle, jumping again as there was another rumble of thunder. You’d think he’d get use to it, but nope, no way. The storm could last (god forbid) for the next five hours and he’d still jump at every bang and boom. It was just in his nature. He didn’t like surprises, end of story. Too bad life was full of them huh?
He watched as she interacted with Loki. The dog was Cade’s baby and best friend, and generally he got jealous when the Aussie bestowed a lot of attention on other people. Now though? Cade found himself pretty relaxed and ok with the idea. Even if she had given Loki about a million treats tonight. Cade chuckles at her response, “They probably help, but they wouldn’t be enough to keep him coming back to you if he didn’t like you. It took me nearly two months to convince him that I was ok.” he tells her as he watches the merle dog.
Growing up, Cade had never had animals as pets. Well, he had fish at one point but he never thought they counted. He had always wanted a dog, a big old mastiff type, but his parents refused to let him get one. Once he was on his own and away from his father though? Cade had set his sights on finding a canine companion, he hadn’t expected to find Loki though. Not that he would complain or take it back, nope, never. However...Yeah, an Australian Shepherd wouldn’t have been his first choice.
“I don’t know what I’d do without an animal in my life anymore,” he says with a smile as he reaches over and scratches Loki’s back fondly, “Never had them growing up, but I always wanted one.” he says with a smile.
