Overall Personality/Appearance: Gabriel is one of the more human angels when you have a look-see at all of his brothers. He has strengths, and weaknesses alike. Gabriel currently is passing off as a pagan god, why? Well, we can call it a witness protection to something he saw and didn't really like. Say, his family arguing constantly and his older brother Lucifer being cast down to Hell. Gabriel couldn't stand his family issues so he skipped out of Heaven when no one was looking and made a home of his own on Earth. One could call Gabriel a coward for not standing up to his family, and, well, he sort of is to some extent. He cannot handle serious matters as well as he should. They off him, and he will try and joke it away to avoid it. Gabriel loves the simple things in life like sweets, women, sex...y'know...the good life He loves to party, and is able to make anyone have a good time. This doesn't mean he can't be serious when it's absolutely necessary.
He loves having fun, even, especially perhaps, when it proves fatal for someone else. Well, you can say he has a very sharp sense of humor. And teaching someone wrong, making the mighty fall, well, it’s all pretty awesome actually. He has the power to make whatever he fancies happen, and does so, very frequently. You might say, following Dean & Sam, that to a point, he has the sense of humor or a 5 years old kid, well, Dean is one to talk… Impersonating a pagan god, a trickster called Loki, he just takes pleasure in living amongst the living, in that character he plays, well, it has to be said. He started to blend in with it and wears it just fine... It was probably a way to avoid reality, who he really was, what had really happen. Using that fake identity he made himself a name, amongst hunters and other supernatural creatures, even making a few friends amongst the pagans.
All-in-all, Gabriel is a very friendly angel compared to others. But he remains a supernatural being and so has a particular opinion on life and death. Killing someone in a joke, is actually very enjoyable, not to mention hilarious, although for a human’s point of view, it’s a tad psychopathic. Gabriel has forsaken his previous life, and although he still loves deeply his family and his kind, he is hiding from heaven and it’s inhabitants, pretending not to exist, to be dead, whatever they believe is fine with him as long as he is left alone. But even so, he keeps himself informed and keeps connected to all the supernatural world, and what he knew why he was still upstairs, he hasn’t forgotten too. Although not all that explicit, it seems that he feels, to a point, guilty for not acting, not doing something to prevent the conflict between his brothers.

Overall History:
Gabriel is an archangel who is said to be God's Messenger. He is also often called the Left Hand of God and sits upon is along with Metatron. He is said to first appear in the Book of Daniel by human knowledge to explain Daniel's visions and also foretold the coming of Jesus and John the Baptist, but this is not so. Gabriel has been alive since the beginning of time when God created His angels. He is also specifically referred to as a male, though many moderns portray him as a female or androgynous.
When Gabriel told Zechariah of his future son, John the Baptist, the man was amazed. He thought his wife, Elizabeth, was too old to bear children. Gabriel reassured him by saying "I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news." Soon after he found Mary and said, "Behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy," and proceeded to tell her of Jesus Christ.
Gabriel is also mentioned in the Book of Enoch as a messenger between humanity and God. Gabriel is said to often appear to prophets more-so than normal individuals.
Enoch 10:13, Gabriel was to
"Go to the biters, to the reprobates, to the children of fornication, the offspring of the Watchers, from among men; bring them forth and excite them against one another. Let them perish under mutual slaughter; for length of days shall not be theirs."
And so, Gabriel instigated wars among the Giants (the children of the Watchers).
Enoch 20:7 says that Gabriel presides over "Ikisat" (the fiery serpents) or Seraphim, Cherubim, and paradise, while Enoch 40:9 states that Gabriel presides over "all that is powerful."
Gabriel and Mother Mary are said to work closely together to minister to sensitive children. Gabriel assists in conceptions, adoptions, pregnancies, births, and the raising of children. This is why it's said he is more feminine than the brawny male strength of Michael. He also mentors adults who wish to help nurture the young and be responsible for them.
The archangel is usually portrayed with a large copper trumpet, to symbolize clearly trumpeting messages from God. Though, in English-speaking cultures, this is said to be the horn Gabriel will blow in the end of times. While he enjoys nurturing children he also helps earthly messengers such as teachers, writers, artists, and actors. He is a Heavenly agent who encourages one to polish their skills. If one needs help, then he gives a loving push in the right direction.
Each angel's halo is a different color. Gabriel's is said to be a copper-color like his trumpet. If one were to see flashes or sparkles of copper light, or if they were suddenly attracted to this metal, then it is a sign that Gabriel is with you. Copper is the main symbol of Gabriel, in general.
That was then. This is now.
Now, escaping all the mythological past, we go to more recent events where Gabriel left Heaven in order to escape his family. Gabriel left shortly after Lucifer's banishment. He has been sticking around on Earth for a millennia, and finds he enjoys the life quite a bit. He stays on Earth in an attempt to forget his past and family, though they still eat at the back of his mind. Gabriel knows the going-ons within his family. Just because he is absent doesn't mean he doesn't keep an ear open.
It just so happened that Gabriel had a run-in with the Winchesters in a university after cleaning up some business concerning a certain, perverted professor. He allowed them to think they'd killed him only to later reappear in the Mystery Spot to try and teach Sam a lesson. From his own experiences, Gabriel wanted to convey to Sam that Dean was his weakness and brothers could not be trusted. It was irritating when he couldn't get it through his head that, in the end, Sam could not rely on Dean. He eventually brought Dean back to life and let the brothers be on their way.
They met again when Gabriel caught wind of them being in the neighborhood and couldn't help but to mess with the knuckleheads. He led them to a warehouse and threw them into TV Land, where they had to "play the game" in order to escape. He, again, was using a metaphor for their real lives. Gabriel, once caught in a ring of holy fire, explained he wanted them to give into his brothers. He figured if they would get the fight over, then things could go back to normal. As he said: "Let's light this candle!" The problem was the Winchesters refused to play along. Dean even called him out in saying he was too afraid to face his family. This may have been what slowly triggered a change in Gabriel, where he decided to get off the sidelines and join the game.
Unfortunately, joining the game ended with Gabriel's life being taken. The last thing he remembers is Lucifer stabbing him with his own blade before he was suddenly in some miscellaneous forest. Gabriel figured it was his father who brought him back. He wishes to know the reason why.

Dream A Little Dream Of Me, Bloody Mary

Roleplay Sample:
The library wasn't a common place Gabriel could be found. He thought books were boring and reading was for the dull. Why he was in a library today was for a very specific purpose, and that was he knew it was the way to locate a certain sibling of his. It was unusual that Gabriel would ever be trying to find one of his brothers. Gabriel had skipped out of Heaven in an attempt to avoid ever seeing their faces again. The younger Archangel hadn't been able to stand the bickering any longer, even with the assistance of this particular brother. Gabriel didn't think too much on it. He was too busy with all the exciting things on Earth, and boy were there some ...excitements. His lips twitched into a small smirk. Who would ever think of going back Upstairs when there were so many gullible people down here? And the pretty women. One couldn't forget about the women.
Life was a fake Pagan God was good. He could do whatever he wanted, whenever, and get away with it. Daddy didn't say anything about anything anymore. He had taken a vaca just like him. If one were to think of it they might be amused. A father had left, seemingly for good, and a son had followed suit. Like father, like son. The thought never occurred to Gabriel.
He toured the library. He'd been looking through quite a few of them with a hope, deep down, to run across Ramiel. Gabriel couldn't explain the need to find him. Ramiel was so straight-laced even Catholics would fall asleep in his presence. He was just that boring. He was, though, good for information. Lately Gabriel had fallen behind on the going-ons. Ramiel would be able to fill him in. Though, on the inside, he felt nervous. He wanted to find his brother, but at the same time he wanted to run away and forget about it. With every library he found nothing he kept trying to convince himself to stop. If he stopped now, then nothing would change. Life would go on as he had carved it, and things would be okay. Heaven was none of his business, and neither was Hell. It was possible that, if he found Ramiel, things would be forced to become his business.
Gabriel's hands stuffed into his pockets as he paused and gave a final look-over of the area. Nothing. Ramiel wasn't here.
