It was a chilly winter’s day as Alaric walked slowly through the main cemetery of Mystic Falls. Ric kept his eyes on the ground he walked over as his hot breath slid through his slightly parted lips and ran up his cold face. His boots trampled over the crunchy leaves that had fallen from the trees above in the starting fall months and withered away as they fell and covered the ground. The sun was only lighting shining through the clouds and would be covered by the heavy clouds most of the time as the sun tried its hardest to be revealed on that day. The weather had been very cold lately, even some snow was still left behind, but it didn’t phase Alaric, for his was a vampire whose internal temperature no longer meant anything. To the world, Alaric was considered dead. Stopping at a tombstone, he looked up to view the inscription. Jenna Sommers....
A small smile ran over his lips as his eyes almost started to form tears. He had viewed all of the graves of those who have died since he had been to Mystic Falls and all of their graves were in the cemetery that he was in now. Bowing down, he placed on of the many roses that he had in his hand, on her grave site. Alaric then began to think, since Lexi Branson and other dead were being resurrected, did that not mean that Jenna and the others would not also be resurrected. Alaric’s eyes widened and he mentally smacked himself for not thinking of it before. Did all of the dead come back at the same time or was it at different times? His mind started to race, Jenna had a possibility of coming back to life? Sighing, he tried to push those thoughts aside, but even though he tried not think about it, he couldn’t help it. Jenna died and turned into a vampire when she was young...and when they were just in the middle of their relationship..
No..Alaric was seeing someone new now, or hopefully he was. Things between Alaric and Lexi were a bit complicated after the blood sharing session where he felt as if Lexi had lied to him and he felt as if he was being used by her. Though what it did prove was that Alaric, as a powerful original did crave vampire blood to satisfy his hunger. His mind flickered back to Jenna. If she returned, would she be back as a vampire? If she did, then they could now relate to one another. Alaric looked up before placing the rest of the roses on her grave, since she deserved them more than the others as she tried to take care of Elena and Jeremy even though she was hidden in the dark from the dark secrets of Mystic Falls until the end. If Lexi would have seen Ric now and his thoughts, she would be jealous. But Jenna and Alaric never had a chance and it was not like he left her out of his own will, Jenna’s choice was taken from her...

Jenna had been back for a lot longer then she’d care to admit to anyone. She had made the choice to keep to herself for the last two weeks though, mostly because she was afraid of the reactions she would get from her old friends, and from her family. Most of them had probably moved on by now, she wasn’t sure exactly how long she had been gone from this world, but it had to have been a while right? And what if...What if...
She wanted to force that thought to trail off and leave her be, but it stuck with her. What if Alaric had moved on and forgotten about her? Things hadn’t been the best between them just before...She gulped slightly at that thought. She had died, and...Did he realize that she loved him as much as she did? That hadn’t changed, actually the vampire side of her had kind of intensified that, making the idea that he had moved on that much more unbearable.
Not that she would ever blame him, after all she had died, but...The idea still hurt. A lot.
Jenna wasn’t sure exactly why, but she had felt the need to see where she was buried at. It was a strange thing, but...Yeah, sometimes you just had to know right? This was her first trip back to Mystic Falls after being resurrected and...Well, yeah. She still had no idea how she was going to go about getting back in touch with her friends and family, or how she was going to explain what she didn’t understand but...
This was just a place to start. A place to try and figure everything out, and come to terms with the end of her old life and begin anew.
She walked through the graveyard, pulling the folds of her light grey windbreaker closer to her. It wasn’t for the warmth, after all as a vampire the cold didn’t really bother her anymore. No, it was a comfort thing, like she could keep herself whole and in one piece inside that jacket. Even it if felt like her worlds was collapsing around her, or had.
She had looked up where her grave was earlier that evening, so she knew right where she was going. As she walked, snow began to fall lightly from the sky, the bright moon reflecting off it. The effect was beautiful to Jenna’s super sensitive eyesight. It was calming, and...Well, beautiful she supposed.
Jenna ghosted along the path, using only the moonlight to see by the snow breaking up her outline and shadow nicely and softening her footsteps. She was careful to stay out of sight, and practically silent. No one else should be out and around, but that didn’t mean they weren’t. Kids especially would probably be out and about, drinking, smoking and just all-round having a good time.
A cold wind blew across her face, bringing with it a sharp, familiar scent. She stopped dead, her throat going dry and her heart stopping. There, in front of her gravestone was a man. Not just any man though, the man that had, before everything went down, been the man of her dreams. Actually, unless something drastic had happened, he still was. She just...Well, it wasn’t like anything was going to come of it now. Not after...
She stood about thirty feet behind him, downwind so he wasn’t going to smell her right away. He was standing in front of her grave stone, placing roses on it. Her heart ached and she fought back tears as she watched him. It wasn’t fair. They should have been together for longer than they had gotten. They should have lived happily ever after...
A tear rolled down her pale cheek, but she didn’t move to wipe it away. What was the point? More were just going to follow that one. She watched him for a moment before speaking in a barely auditable whisper one word, “Ric..” His name fell from her lips before she had the chance to think about it, or stop it.

So many tears Alaric had shed over Jenna Sommers in the past and now that single tear left in his eye couldn’t find the will to fall since there may be a potential chance that Jenna could actually come back after all these years, just as the other resurrected dead have been coming back. Though, if Jenna was to even come back, would she be a vampire or a human? Jenna and Ric didn’t end on a good note as it already was and if she was forced back on this earth and now had to deal with being a vampire. Alaric looked down again at his feet, lightly moving around his feet to see the snow that was on top of his shoes now as the snow lightly fell from the sky. Even if Jenna did come back, that didn’t guarantee a relationship between them, since Alaric was also a powerful and unkillable vampire. There was a lot about Ric that Jenna would need to know about, but despite that, the two never had a chance to soar in their relationship, it was only full of lies and secrets, but only for her own sanity did he keep secrets from her at Elena’s request.
Alaric’s life had changed so much and he was already Jenna, but that didn’t mean he didn’t think about her and wish her the best in wherever she was now away from her family. Ric was now falling for someone else. Meredith wasn’t too sure about Ric when it came to a relationship, she was a human and he was a powerful vampire that could snap at anytime and she wanted some stability. Lexi and Alaric had potential, but now Alaric’s emotions were all jumbled up. Wait, he was speaking like Jenna was already back in his life. Then, just as he thought that sole thought, he heard the light call of his name by the voice of the one he was just thinking about....no, it couldn’t be. Alaric turned his head slowly, almost shaking and fearful that it may be Jenna. But then as he turned his head and his body, he found Jenna looking right at him with a tear that streamed down her cheek. The sight of Jenna Sommers now was breathtaking. Alaric just froze as his eyes examined her. Ric was lost for words.
It was Jenna, no more than fifty feet in front of him and she looked even more beautiful than she did before. Being a vampire seemed to bring out the beauty in an individual a bit more. Alaric turned his body all around and it seemed as if the small light that was shining through the clouds was shining on her and then his world just stopped. ”...Je-e- Jenna?” Ric couldn’t help himself but to get caught up on his minor letters, but he eventually got her name forced out. ”Are you--back too?” He said, watching her closely as the wind changed in his direction and the scent of her was brought up to his nostrils. Taking the scent in, he lightly closed his eyes, remembering that sweet scent of her that he had once remembered so long ago. But something was different about her scent..she was a vampire. Opening his eyes again and looking at her, his voice changed to sympathetic as he noted, ”You’re a vampire...You don’t deserve this...” Jenna deserved to come back as a human and live the life that was stolen from her..

Jenna just stood watching Ric as the tears ran down her cheeks, and the snow landed and melted in her strawberry blond hair. Her hazel eyes take in everything about him, the sharp, clear scent that it so clearly male. The tall, strong frame of his body, and even the way the soft snow flakes attach themselves t o his dark hair. Jenna remembered it all, nothing had changed, and yet everything had. Things were never going to be the same between them. Hell, nothing was ever going to be the same between Jenna and any of the people from her past.
Life had a way of moving on when someone died. The human spirit demanded it in order to keep life moving. Elena. Jeremy. Ric...They all would have moved on, and Jenna didn’t blame them in the least for it. Actually, she was happy for them. But it still sucked, and it still hurt all the same.
She hadn’t thought he would hear her. After all, it had been nothing but a soft whisper on the wind, not something human ears could hear, but as the words left her lips he seemed to stiffen. Then, very slowly he turned around. Jenna could see him trembling as he did. She could only imagine what he was thinking as he looked at her.
Ric had to think he was losing it, or that she was a ghost or something. With the snow falling around them in a gentle breeze and the sun coming down as it did...It had to surreal. She knew if their places had been reversed she would have ran for the hills. Instead though she listened as he stumbled over the syllables of her name, fighting back the urge to run over to him and throw her arms around him, to hold him once more and have him hold her. To make things the same as they use to be...
Jenna blinked as he asked if she was back too. Wait, what? This wasn’t just something that was happening to her? Others had been pulled from their resting places on the other side as well? Brought back for some unknown reason to a world that they shouldn’t be in anymore? Who else...What if...But...No, it didn’t make any sense. She moved a hand, pushing a piece of her blond hair out of her eyes and putting it behind her ear. There were no words that Jenna at this moment could say, or wanted to say.
Her first thought actually was to turn and walk away from the situation. Let him think that he was crazy and had seen a ghost or something. That would be the best thing for both of them, then she could leave Mystic Falls and no one would be the wiser. No one would get hurt because of her, they could get on with the lives they had carved out for themselves since her death. Yeah, that would be the best bet.
The wind changed directions though before she could move. The traitorous wind blew her scent towards Ric, who caught it and closed his eyes as it made its way to him. Well looks like taking off wasn’t going to be an option now. She simply nodded her head at his words, not liking his sympathetic tone of voice. It wasn’t that bad, could be a lot worse. Yeah, being a vampire sucked but it was life right? Not everything was going to go your way all the time.
She looks away from him for a moment, not responding at first. Jenna’s mind was racing as she tried to come up with something to say. What was there that she could say? Really though, it wasn’t like hey, how are you? Was really an option now was it? “Ric, ” she says, just as softly as before, her voice trembling slightly as she puts her arms around herself and forces her eyes to his. She shook her head slightly, choosing not to comment on his vampire comment, “Don’t tell Jeremy and Elena, please.” she says softly before turning to leave.
